I will assume you have created a character, in that case welcome! You will soon receive a private message informing you whether your character has been accepted.
Now follows a quick explanation of how this system works...
Rules and Regulations
1) Your forum name must be the same as your character name
2) This is a sandbox game in that there really are no rules as to what you must do, only rules on how you do it. If you wish to rob a bank feel free to do so, if you want to collect hats by all means feel free but please keep in mind certain things.
3) TPTB's will not give away information on your chracter in their descriptions. Therefore though they will not state for example "Due to your opium addiction you end up entering the den against your free will." You can be certain all advantages, disadvantages, equipment, etc. will be brought into consideration for plot twists.
4) When you post your characters next move please do not go into a diatribe that borders on power gaming. For example, feel free to write "I pull my pistol and aim at the cashier, my finger pulls the trigger as soon as humanly possible" but do not write "I pull out my pistol, shoot the cashier, steal all the money and run down the street with no police chasing me." Though this may be an interesting exercise in creative writing, it does not allow the fates space to tell you what happens after you pull the trigger.
Quite simply if an action only requires your input then write away if however your writing incurs an effect on a NPC, other player, building, etc. then write your intention as opposed to the outcome.
5) All outcomes in the game are decided by a team of fates known as TPTB (the powers that be).
For example player A and player Bs decide to duel over an insult to player B's honour.
Player A: Sizing up my opponent, I drop to one knee take careful aim and fire
Player B: I fire blindly straight away relying on my firearms training to guide me true
TPTB: Sadly Player B had not anticipated the dropping to one knee and his shot sails over player A's head, players A's carefully aimed shot however flies well, striking player A in the shoulder. Preventing use of Player A's left arm until he receives successful medical treatment.
